Recruitment

Interagency coordination

The SCGJA works closely with the Shasta County Superior Court, taking the lead regarding grand jury recruitment efforts and the new juror selection process. By spearheading most of the annual administrative processes, we free up vital Court resources for other purposes. This is done through our Superior Court liaison, Karen Jahr, as well as various SCGJA committees comprised of Association members.

  • The Recruitment Committee is dedicated to educating the public regarding the grand jury and is responsible for the annual recruitment campaign, which includes social media outreach, television and radio advertisements, flyers, and banners.

  • The Screening Committee assists with juror selection by reviewing applications for eligibility, verifying references, conducting interviews, and submitting a list of qualified juror candidates for the Court's consideration.

The SCGJA also works in conjunction with the Civil Grand Jurors Association of California (CGJA) to provide juror training seminars and workshops, apprise the currently seated grand jury of new and pending legislation regarding grand jury matters, and coordinate resources from other counties' associations in the State for Shasta County's benefit. For more information about the training provided, please see our Training page or visit the CGJA website.
